Most oils remain on the surface and act through occlusion. They can temporarily reduce transepidermal water loss, or TEWL, while present. This effect persists only as long as the surface film remains.
What becomes visible with repeated use

- Dryness reappears despite consistent use.
- Similar results require repeated application.
Outcomes become dependent on frequency rather than sustained stability.
Excess application may introduce surface residue, heaviness, greasiness, or increased adherence of dust and particulate matter in high-exposure environments.
